Medical
Coding - Associate Degree: Every medical
service (test, office visit, injection, etc.) has
a numerical code associated with it so that insurance
companies who pay the claim can easily identify
the problem. We have an extensive curriculum to
prepare our students for the concepts that coders
must understand: Anatomy and physiology, etiology
(cause of disease), symptoms, signs, diagnoses,
treatments. They learn various medical records and
have detailed knowledge of a variety of specific
coding systems. In their seventh quarter Antonelli
students participate in an externship 4 hours a
day 5 days a week.
